Come Out, Get Fit!

Get some exercise and improve your skills with The Well’s running club.

The group is open to people of all sexual orientations and gender identities who would like to run in a lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer positive space.

Details

Who: Everyone — people of all skill levels interested in an informal chance to socialize as well as improve their running speed and distance. The length and speed of the run will be adapted to participants’ levels/abilities. No one will be left behind and we welcome beginners. If you are a beginner and nervous about starting, get in touch with us and we can meet with you ahead of time to help get you going.

When: Mondays at 5:45 pm

Where: Meet at the bottom of the rail trail at the South end of Dundurn (in the turn around where Dundurn ends as it hits the bottom of the escarpment just past the intersection with Hillcrest Ave.). There is parking along Dundurn and on Hillcrest Avenue.

Fee: There’s no cost to join. Participants must register and sign a waiver, which can be done at their first run.

If you are under the age of 18, contact us at info@thewellhamilton.ca or 905-525-0300 to get a copy of the participation waiver in advance, which must be signed by a parent or guardian.

Where do you run?

Our first few runs will be at the same place and time (listed above) to make us easy to find. After that we will decide as a club whether we have the interest (and the necessary transportation) to try other trails in the city.

Is this a Running Clinic?

No. There is no professional facilitation or training as part of this running club. This is an informal opportunity for members of the community to meet, set their own pace, and get exercise on Hamilton’s many beautiful running trails.

Can I do this?

If you can run/walk 4km you can join. We welcome rollerbladers and individuals with mobility devices.

We will do our best to accommodate all abilities of runners from run/walkers to more advanced runners. All runners will meet up at the end at the Sky Dragon for coffee/tea.

Keep in mind that you’re responsible for your health and safety, and you should consult with a physican before making a significant change in your exercise routine or if you have any conerns about participating.
